District Announces New Grant Awards
On September 30, the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation Board approved $428,737 in grant awards to health projects that are operated through educational institutions. Read more.

Mental Health Matters
Coachella Valley young people are addressing mental and behavioral challenges from their perspective in a new zine created through a two-year grant to the Youth Leadership Institute. Read it.
Desert Healthcare District Elections
Four seats on the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation Board are open this year. They represent zones 1, 3, 5 and 7. Learn more about the District zones (Hummingbird Plan), which cover the entire Coachella Valley.  Candidates can file starting July 15 with the Riverside County of Registrar to run for a Board seat in the November 5, 2024 election. Follow the election updates.

New Book Explores  the Evolution of Public Health Care in Coachella Valley

Fentanyl in the Coachella Valley
The Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, with the Riverside University Health System - Public Health, recently launched an educational campaign to raise awareness about harm reduction for those affected by the opiod. Read more in English or Espanol. 
Free Air Purifiers
Coachella Valley residents in the eastern valley can apply for free air purifiers, provided courtesy of the AB 617 Residential Air Filtration Program. Learn more.

Pop-up clinic returns to provide flu, COVID-19 vaccines & more Saturdays at Palm Desert mall

The vaccines that are available are for COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), pneumonia and shingles. Insurance is required for residents seeking protection from shingles, RSV and pneumonia. The COVID-19 and flu shots are offered for free.
