Newly elected Directors are sworn in and Board selects officers for 2025
The Desert Healthcare District & Foundation has new leadership, following this week's election of Board officers.
At a special Board meeting Monday, two new Directors and two incumbents took an oath to the U.S. Constitution and California Constitution to serve the next four years. The swearing-in ceremony was led by Jeff Scott, attorney for the District & Foundation.
First-time Directors Dr. Daniel Logsdon (zone 3) and Greg Rodriguez (zone 1), and incumbent Leticia DeLara (zone 7) were in person for the swearing-in. Incumbent Arthur Shorr (zone 5) participated virtually. The new Directors were supported by family members in attendance.
Immediately after the ceremony, Scott asked the seven Directors to nominate candidates for Board president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Here are the voting results:
- President - Carole Rogers (zone 2) has served on the Board for 10 years and is a former president. She is a retired but licensed Registered Nurse, who earlier this year was named the Association of California Healthcare District's Trustee of the Year.
- Vice-President - Greg Rodriguez, elected to the Board on Nov.5, is employed as the deputy director of government affairs and community engagement for Riverside County's Housing and Workforce Solutions Department.
- Secretary - Kimberly Barraza (zone 6), elected to the Board in 2022, begins her second year as secretary. She has worked as a senior district representative for a California Assemblymember.
- Treasurer - Daniel Logsdon, MD, elected to the Board on Nov. 5, is a cardio/thoracic surgeon with Eisenhower Health.
Completing the Board are community health manager Evett PerezGil (zone 4), DeLara and Shorr. DeLara is CEO of the Regional Access Project Foundation, and Shorr is an independent healthcare consultant.
Board Directors are elected by Coachella Valley voters to serve a four-year term. The officer positions are chosen by the Board annually.
