Interested in serving on the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation Board? Here's what you should know
The Desert Healthcare District & Foundation Board consists of seven Directors from the District’s seven geographic zones. Each zone is composed of about 60,000 Coachella Valley residents.
The Directors are elected by valley voters to serve a four-year term. If a Director leaves the Board before completing the term, the full Board has the option of interviewing applicants from the zone with the vacancy and appointing a new Director to complete the term.
That’s the process underway now as applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Jan. 5, 2026, to fill a vacancy in zone five. Arthur Shorr resigned from the Board seat on Nov. 30, 2025. Interviews will be conducted in person by the Board on Jan. 8.
