A key principle of the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation's community outreach in recent years and going forward will be in the spotlight during its celebration on April 21: collaboration.
A Night of Stars, the Healthcare District's second annual event recognizing dedication to health and wellness in the Coachella Valley, will include an awards presentation to 18 community partners. The recipients are organizations and individuals who have been integral to the District and Foundation's COVID-19 response during the past three years.
The honorees -- ranging from school districts to public health leaders and pharmacies -- cover a broad swath of stakeholders who stepped up in 2020 and after to join the Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative, which was formed by the Healthcare District and Foundation with the fiscal support of the Riverside County Department of Public Health and Public Health Institute.
The awards will be presented by group in two categories (listed below in alphabetical order):

"It's going to be a very special night," said Conrado Bárzaga, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation CEO. "It's not every day that healthcare workers and the community agencies and nonprofits that support their work are recognized for their dedicated service. Without them, the effects of COVID-19 and many other health challenges would've been much worse in our community. We're presenting this event as an opportunity to say thank-you to those who eagerly committed and collaborated to save as many lives as possible."
About the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation
The Desert Healthcare District is a local government agency formed in 1948. Its mission is to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents. The District includes more than 400,000 residents and encompasses the entire Coachella Valley. The District and Desert Healthcare Foundation, together, are one of the largest funders in the valley.
